Meet your driving instructors

The instructors who run your mock test

A mock driving test here is assessed by an accredited instructor on the Mitcham Driving School team. That team coaches learners towards the VicRoads drive test week after week, so the mock is marked on what a testing officer looks at.

Nazrul Islam(Naz)

Founder of the School & Lead Instructor
★★★★★
A teacher of 25 years' standing
Naz set up Mitcham Driving School, and the 25 years' teaching experience he brings applies to a mock test as much as to a lesson. His own grounding is in education, so he understands that people learn differently, and he keeps the session structured, confidence-building and calm. Ask how he works and he will name the 3F approach. The letters mean Fair, Flexible and Friendly.

Has 5 years' instructing experience
Dil brings two qualifications to your mock test. One is as a driving instructor, the other as child & educational psychologist. She comes originally from Sri Lanka. Her teaching, over a decade's worth, was in IB, EYFS and primary systems—her instructing, 5 years so far, covers manual and automatic—and the result is a calm, patient assessor who understands how people really gain driving skill and confidence.

Mock tests with Abdul Kader are structured and friendly. Behind that sit years of research and teaching, split between universities and the vocational sector. — ABOUT US

What Is a Mock Driving Test?

A mock driving test, which we call our Pre-Drive Test Assessment, is a 60-minute session that runs through the full VicRoads drive test format. You complete a pre-drive check of the car’s controls, then drive while your instructor gives directions the way a testing officer would.

Afterwards you get detailed feedback on what you did well and what would cost you points. It is the clearest way to find out if you are ready before you sit the real test at the Mitcham Testing and Inspection Centre.

— HOW IT WORKS

What Happens in Your Mock Test

Your mock test follows the VicRoads drive test format, then ends with a proper debrief.

1

Pickup and briefing

We collect you from your Mitcham address and explain how the session will run.

2

Pre-drive check

Just like the real test, you show the indicators, brake lights, horn, headlights, hazard lights, and washers and wipers.

3

Test-style drive

You drive on the kind of roads used around the Mitcham test centre, following directions without coaching.

4

Debrief and plan

We go through every point that would have cost you marks and give you a clear list of what to practise.

— MOCK VS REAL

Mock Test vs the Real VicRoads Test

The format is the same. The difference is what you get at the end.

— WHY CHOOSE?

Why Mitcham Learners Book
a Mock Test With Us

01

Real Test Format

The mock is laid out like the real VicRoads drive test. It opens with the pre-drive check, a run through the car’s controls. The on-road drive follows.

02

Local Test Centre Roads

Your mock puts you among roads, intersections and traffic like those that ring the Mitcham Testing and Inspection Centre.

03

Straight, Detailed Feedback

After the drive, your instructor goes through each mistake, why it matters, and how to fix it.

04

Less Test-Day Nerves

Doing a full test-style drive before the real thing takes away much of the fear of the unknown.

05

Useful After a Failed Test

If you have failed before, a mock test shows whether the problem is fixed before you sit another test.

06

VicRoads-Accredited Instructors

Your mock test assessor’s VicRoads Driving Instructor Authority is in date. So is that assessor’s Victorian Driving Instructors Association membership, and so is the Working with Children Check they hold.

07

Pair It With Test Day

Book your mock a week or two before your test, then use a Lesson + Test package for a warm-up drive and our car on the day.

08

No Pass Guarantee, Just Honesty

No one can promise you will pass. What we can promise is a clear, honest picture of where you stand.
